West End audiences can see the bear for nearly two more years. Producers announced on Wednesday that Paddington: The Musical will extend its London run through at least June 25, 2028. The decision follows a surge in ticket demand.

The extension follows a record-setting awards season. The production won seven Olivier Awards earlier this year. That total matches the all-time record for most wins by a musical. The show took home the top prize for best new musical. Luke Sheppard won for best director. The cast also collected honors for best actor and two supporting acting categories.

Sonia Friedman Productions, StudioCanal, and Eliza Lumley Productions are producing the show for Universal Music U.K. Tom Fletcher of the band McFly wrote the music and lyrics. Jessica Swale wrote the book. The story adapts Michael Bond’s novel A Bear Called Paddington and the subsequent films. A Broadway production opens at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre in March 2027. A Sydney production begins at the Capitol Theatre in September 2027.

The London company features a rotating cast for the title role. Sonny Monaghan voices the bear and operates the remote puppetry. Abbie Purvis and Hassan Taj perform as Paddington on stage. The current company includes Samantha Bingley as Lady Sloane and Alex Crandon as Hank the Pigeon. Linzi Hateley plays Mrs Bird. Cassidy Janson is Millicent Clyde. Sandra Marvin takes the role of Tanya. Haydn Oakley plays Mr Brown, Marc Pickering is Mr Curry, and Charlotte Wakefield is Mrs Brown. Tarinn Callender and Teddy Kempner return as Grant and Mr Gruber.

The synopsis describes a lost bear from Peru who arrives in London seeking a new home. He meets the Brown family and enters the world of Windsor Gardens. The city proves less welcoming than expected. Families have hidden cracks beneath the surface. A vengeful villain targets the bear. The Browns launch a rescue mission. They realize they need the bear as much as he needs them.
