Birmingham Zoo will offer educators a $15 general admission rate on Saturday, Nov. 7, covering the ticket holder plus up to three accompanying guests. The discount applies to the entire day, while special programming runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The zoo’s Learning Department will operate interactive booths covering zoo volunteering, conservation, and animal care careers. Participants can also enter free prize drawings for a family membership or behind-the-scenes tickets. The discount is available to active teachers, local and out-of-state educators, informal educators, and administrative support staff. Attendees must present a valid educator ID or documentation along with a photo ID.
The schedule includes an African lion training session at 10:30 a.m. that does not require advance registration. An Animal Ambassador bird demonstration is set for 11 a.m. and requires registration. The 11:30 a.m. elephant food toss is sold out, though any remaining spaces in other limited-capacity programs will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
A "Camper for an Hour" activity begins at noon on Henley Lawn without the need for registration. An Animal Ambassador reptile demonstration follows at 1 p.m., requiring advance sign-up. The day concludes at 2 p.m. with a cougar keeper chat that does not require registration.
The event targets education professionals, with specific pricing that differentiates from standard admission. The zoo will host these activities on its grounds, with specific time slots allocated for each animal interaction.
