Apple has clarified the exact hardware required to charge the iPhone Duo at its maximum wired speed.
The device launched with fast charging capabilities for both wired and wireless connections. The company recently updated its support documentation to detail the specific accessories needed to reach peak performance. This guidance aims to help users understand why some charging sessions are slower than advertised.
To reach 50 percent battery in roughly 20 minutes via a wired connection, the phone requires the included USB-C cable and a compatible power adapter. Apple lists its 40W Dynamic Power Adapter with 60W Max as one option, priced at $34. Users can also select third-party adapters rated for 60W or more. These external units must support Adjustable Voltage Supply and USB Power Delivery 3.2 to function correctly.
Wireless charging operates at a slower pace. Apple states the iPhone Duo can reach 50 percent in about 30 minutes without a cable. This speed requires a MagSafe Charger, listed at $30, or an adapter rated at 35W or higher. The company identifies compatible Apple and Anker adapters for this setup.
A 2026 review by 9to5Mac suggests third-party options often provide better value than Apple’s first-party hardware. The publication recommends Anker’s 100W charging brick, which supports iPhones, Macs, and iPads. The review also notes that Apple’s 40W Dynamic Power Adapter remains a good option for buyers who prefer original equipment. Those needing longer reach can purchase Apple’s official 2-meter USB-C cable, which is currently available at a discount.
