Bethesda Game Studios confirmed the subtitle for its long-delayed role-playing title on Tuesday, ending years of speculation about the franchise's direction. The studio revealed the logo for "The Elder Scrolls 6: Sentinel" in a video message delivered by franchise director Todd Howard. This announcement coincided with the company's 40th anniversary celebration.

The game serves as the direct sequel to "Skyrim," the 2011 installment that remains the studio's most played title. While "Skyrim" is set in the province of Skyrim, "Sentinel" takes place in the city of Sentinel within the Hammerfell province on the continent of Tamriel. Geographically, Hammerfell lies west of Cyrodiil, the setting for "Oblivion" in 2006, and southwest of the region featured in the previous entry.

Development for the sixth entry began in 2018 following an initial announcement at E3. Active production did not start until 2023, after the launch of "Starfield" concluded. Howard previously indicated that the release timeline could be 15 to 17 years after "Skyrim" came out. That estimate suggests players may still be several years away from accessing the game.

The title was not the only major gaming news reported this week. Rockstar Games scheduled the digital pre-load for "Grand Theft Auto VI" to begin on Nov. 10. The download size for PlayStation 5 users will reach up to 212 GB, while Xbox Series X and S users will pre-load at midnight GMT. Physical code-in-box versions for both consoles are set to appear in retail stores on Nov. 12.

Rockstar also plans to release a free digital download of a printable "GTA 6" cover art poster and a map of Leonida on Nov. 29. A double-sided physical version of this material will become available shortly after the game launches.

In the life simulation genre, HoYoverse set a Dec. 4 release date for "Petit Planet." This cozy galactic title allows players to act as Planet Tenders who travel to the Starsea. The game supports cross-platform play on PC, iOS, and Android, with a Nintendo Switch 2 version planned for 2027.

The "Borderlands" franchise crossed the 100 million units sold milestone. "Borderlands 4" launched in September 2025, and Gearbox continues to add content including story packs and bounty packs. Starting Nov. 6, players can join The Hunt, a community fundraising event. 2K Foundations and Gearbox will match every dollar donated up to the previous record of $118,995.80 raised for St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital earlier this year.
