Free collaborative workshops at I Just Am Studio run through Nov. 13, with food donations supporting the Northfield Township Food Pantry.

Residents of Northbrook and surrounding towns can join a week of free art activities that feed the local pantry.
I Just Am Studio, a nonprofit at 1975 Shermer Road, launched Cup of Kindness Week to pair creative time with community support. The studio previously focused on offering classes and programs for people of all ages and abilities. This new event extends that mission by adding a specific charitable goal. The studio set the dates for Nov. 9 through 13, opening the space to neighbors from Northbrook, Glenview, and nearby areas.
The main attraction is the Dish of Kindness, a collaborative ceramic project. Participants add their own designs to shared plates. One person might start the work, while others continue the decoration over several days. The studio limits workshop space, so attendees must register in advance. A Kids Corner provides separate creative activities for younger visitors.
The program includes a food collection for the Northfield Township Food Pantry. Donors who bring nonperishable items receive a complimentary cup of coffee or hot cocoa. Founder Janice Weinstein explained the goal in a statement to Patch. She said, "Creativity has a wonderful way of bringing people together." Weinstein added that the week is an invitation to connect with neighbors and share something meaningful. She noted that small gestures can make a difference.
Admission is free for all activities. The studio has posted daily drop-in hours and workshop schedules on its event page. Registration links are also available there for those who want to secure a spot in the limited ceramic workshops. The week concludes on Nov. 13.
