The 2026 edition of People magazine’s long-running celebrity feature landed with the cast member currently dominating prime-time television. On Tuesday, Oct. 27, the publication named Noah Wyle the Sexiest Man Alive. The 55-year-old actor, an Emmy winner known for his work in 'ER' and 'The Pitt', was recognized as his career regained momentum through his recent HBO series.

Wyle expressed surprise at the announcement. He told People he initially assumed the news was a joke, stating, 'just not in a million years did I think that this would be an honor bestowed on me.' His wife, Sara Wells, helped him process the recognition. Wyle credited her belief in him as a husband and father for shaping his response to the honor.

The title connects Wyle to a previous generation of television stars. He replaced Jonathan Bailey, the 'Wicked' star who held the distinction in 2025. Wyle also drew a link to George Clooney, his former co-star who has won the title twice. Wyle predicted Clooney would react with amusement and pride, joking that he had 'come of gray-haired age.' He added that his family would likely tease him about the milestone.

Wyle’s selection follows a period of critical acclaim for his role as Dr. Michael 'Robby' Robinavitch in 'The Pitt.' He won consecutive Emmy awards for outstanding lead actor in a drama series in 2025 and 2026. His earlier career was defined by his role as Dr. John Carter on NBC’s 'ER', which aired from 1994 to 2009.

The third season of 'The Pitt' is scheduled to premiere in January 2027. The annual People feature, first awarded in 1985, continues to be one of the magazine’s most recognized celebrity honors. Wyle’s inclusion reflects his sustained presence in television and his recent success with new audiences.
