The Dallas Cowboys defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 38-21 on Monday night, handing the host team its fifth consecutive loss. The result keeps the Cowboys in the hunt for the NFC East title, while the Eagles fall further behind the New York Giants, who currently lead the division with a 4-2-1 record.
Javonte Williams carried the ball for a career-high 155 yards and a touchdown for Dallas. His performance marked the first 150-yard rushing game by a Cowboys player since Ezekiel Elliott in 2018. The Cowboys also gained 204 yards on the ground overall.
Dak Prescott finished with 212 passing yards and three touchdowns. He connected with CeeDee Lamb twice. One of those scores came late in the third quarter when Lamb caught a 16-yard pass in the end zone corner. Prescott converted the two-point try to extend the lead to 28-21.
Philadelphia quarterback Tanner McKee started the game as Jalen Hurts is expected to miss the rest of the season due to blood clots in his lungs. McKee completed 23 of 35 passes for 211 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. He orchestrated the Eagles' first touchdown drive in the third quarter this season, hitting rookie Makai Lemon for a 4-yard score to give Philadelphia a 21-20 lead.
The Eagles failed to score after that touchdown. Linebacker DeMarvion Overshown intercepted a McKee pass late in the fourth quarter. Brandon Aubrey added three field goals for Dallas, including a 55-yarder, 27-yarder, and a 24-yarder that extended the lead to 31-21. Williams capped the scoring with a 2-yard rushing touchdown.
Saquon Barkley returned to the Eagles lineup after missing more than two games with a hamstring injury. He rushed for 62 yards on seven carries, though he spent time on the sideline receiving treatment for both his hamstring and his back. His 8-yard touchdown run in the first quarter briefly put Philadelphia ahead 7-3.
Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie was inducted into the team's Hall of Fame during the game. He purchased the franchise in 1994 and has overseen four Super Bowl appearances since 2004, including the two titles the team has won in its history. Lurie gave a brief speech at halftime flanked by former players Brian Dawkins and Donovan McNabb.
Coach Nick Sirianni remains the team's primary voice regarding Hurts' condition. The Eagles also lost kick returner Britain Covey to a knee injury in the first quarter.
The Cowboys will host the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. The Eagles travel to Washington for a Sunday night game against another struggling NFC East rival.
